Nine Loo Cafes to open soon in city
Madhapur: Apart from the six loo cafes’ presently in operation in the city, 11 more are ready for inauguration in the coming days. For the first time, four cafes exclusively for women would be opened, called loo café pink. Loo cafes is an initiative started by Hyderabad-based IXORA FM. It has three bio toilets, one for men, one for women and one for disabled. It has space allocated for ATM and an attached cafe.
“The major concern about the public toilets is hygiene. There are people who avoid using them because of lack of cleanliness. Loo Cafes aim is to ensure sanitation, hygienic, waste management and make it accessible everyone. It is made of prefabricated wood which is fire proof and insect proof. CCTV cameras will be installed to strengthen security,” said Abhishek Nath, founder & CEO, IXORA FM.
“We are planning to start more than 100 loo cafes this year. The loo cafes that are running now are getting good response from the public. They can be used free of cost and it will be maintained through the revenues generated by the adjoining café.
Our goal is to achieve open fee defecation cities by 2019,” he added.The cafe will serve food around the clock and have a radio channel dedicated to hygiene and ‘Swachh Telangana’. Loo cafe also provides free wifi.
