Fire breaks out in Khan Lateef Khan Estate in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: A major fire broke out at Khan Lateef Khan Estate in Basheer Bagh on Wednesday afternoon. However, no casualties were reported in the incident. Nearly 10 fire tenders including crane fire engines battled for hours to douse the fire. Hundreds of panicked people in the building ran on to the roads to save their lives.
Both police and fire department officials rushed to the spot and took rescue operations. City police higher officials and fire officials supervised the rescue operations. According to Central Zone DCP P Viswa Prasad, the incident took place on the fifth floor of the multi-storied building in the afternoon and it later spread to the nearby floor. He said no casualties reported.
Under the rescue operation, the firemen and personnel of GHMC Disaster Management and Rescue Wing rescued 8 persons who were trapped. As a precautionary measure, around 200 to 300 persons working in various offices in the building were immediately evacuated. The fire officials suspect that the fire was triggered by an electrical short circuit in the AC and the flames spread through the server room.
Traffic jam occurred near LB Stadium which was later cleared by the traffic police. A GHMC Disaster Rescue Force employee Khaja Mohiuddin fainted during rescue operations. He was shifted to the nearby hospital for emergency treatment. The officials are yet to estimate the financial loss suffered due to the fire accident.
