GHMC goes tech-savvy to monitor sanitation

Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner Dana Kishore has said that the modern technology is being used for the sanitation purpose. The mayor is also personally interacting with the sanitation workers regularly and monitoring the situation with regard to Swachh Survekshan-2019, the commissioner said. Even some of the meetings have also been postponed to concentrate more on sanitation, the commissioner said briefing the media at GHMC Head Office while demonstration of Nano vehicle, which is being used to closely monitor the sanitation in the city.

The GHMC with the slogan, ‘Shaan Hyderabad, Saaf Hyderabad,’ is moving ahead. People have been throwing garbage, releasing drain water and other waste materials on main roads. In an effort to impose fines through modern machines and technology, the GHMC has taken up a new method by deploying a Nano vehicle, which displays three CC TV cameras, along with a computer, to capture the movements of the people who are throwing garbage, releasing sewage water on the roads, streets, lanes and bi-lanes.

 These movements will be captured and will be sent to the command control room, for which the officials will plan on how to impose fine and it will be decided on the spot to control the menace.On the other hand, some 150 tabs have also been provided to the Swachh officers to monitor the sanitation works. Data is coming from around 130 tabs, and it is helping a lot for the on-going process. 

Swachh Vigil app is also being planned for the above said purpose where the citizens can also send pictures, videos etc., with which the work can be taken up in a more effective manner. A vision document is also under process on how to take up the sanitation process, and it will be discussed with the experts soon, said the commissioner.
