District machinery all set for GP polls today

Vikarabad: District Collector Syed Omer Jaleel inspected the arrangements for the 2nd phase GP polls at Ambedkar Bhavan and gave necessary instructions to the staff on Thursday. The district officials have made all arrangements required for the panchayat elections to be held on Friday in seven mandals: Vikarabad, Darur, Mominpet, Nawabpet, Bantwaram, Marpally and Kotepally.As many as 2,802 candidates are in the poll fray for 1,166 wards, after 308 candidates were elected unanimously.

The election will be conducted from 7.00 am and 1.00 pm. The counting will start at 2.00 pm, and the results will be announced by 5.00 pm.DSP Sirisha has visited polling centers in Peerampally Village and inquired about the arrangements there. Section 144 will be in force on the premises of the polling centers on Friday. Police also conducted meetings with contestants and briefed them about maintaining law and order during polls.

 The election staff reached polling centers, along with equipment. Officials appointed staff for webcasting the election process.  Police also beefed up the security to prevent untoward incidents.
On the other hand, the district collector said that all Booth Level Officers (BLOs) should enroll all eligible candidates into voters’ list on Friday, as the Election Commission of India is celebrating national voters’ day.
