Stress drives 9th class student to kill self

Karimnagar: A class nine student died of severe injuries he sustained after he fell from the School building at Padmarao Nagar campus in Karimnagar on Thursday. 

Ashwith (14), native of Mothe village, Jagtial rural mandal, was studying ninth class in Paramitha High School in Karimnagar. On Thursday he committed suicide by jumping from the school building. 

Parents and representatives of various student unions alleged that the boy committed suicide as he was unable to bear the pressure exerted by the teachers and staff including the management. 

The student leaders said that the management of Paramitha School is forcing the students to spend more than 16 hours in the school and making them to read forcibly. While a few teachers are giving punishments to students for not completing the targets given to them, they added.

The student leaders alleged that several students, unable to bear mental and physical strain, have been taking the extreme step to end their lives. They demanded the government to file a criminal case against the management of Paramitha High School for death of Ashwith. 

When the police officials and the management tried to send the body for postmortem, the representatives of various students unions blocked their way and staged a rasta roko, demanding the government justice to be done to Ashwith parents.

They also demanded suspension of the school recognition and ex-gratia of Rs 20 lakhs to Ashwith family. Otherwise, they warned of intensifying their agitation to teach both the management and the government a fitting lesson. 

The police arrested the student union leaders - TVV president Mahesh, PDSU president Ratnam Ramesh, SFI president Ganesh, NSUI president Vasu, Suryudu, Raju, P Rakesh and Kranthi.
