Media should be impartial: Dattatreya
Hyderabad: Former union minister and senior BJP Leader Bandaru Dattatreya on Sunday said that media has a prominent role to play in the society. He said that the media was considered as the fourth estate in the country. He made these remarks while addressing the second annual conference of Telangana Journalists Association in the city.
He said that media should not become a puppet in the hands of a few and added that they should act in an impartial manner. He said that he worked very hard for the welfare of the journalists in the country and added that it was during his term that the Majithia Wage Board had submitted its report on the implementation of its recommendations for paying attractive salaries to all the journalists.
He also said that he had written letters to the Chief Ministers of two Telugu speaking states and urged them to implement the wage board recommendations. He demanded that the Chief Minister of the state set up Rs 100 crore fund for the welfare of the journalists.
