Hyderabad: Following unseasonal rains, streets in Osman Gunj and Begum Bazar, major wholesale markets in the city, were flooded with slush mud and wastage was strewn everywhere on Sunday morning. Monday being working day, the locals were in a fix as to how to clear the accumulated mud.

Locals have been complaining to the civic body to solve the problem of overflowing nearby nala, which causes havoc in the area and inundates narrow lanes. It also brings huge quantities of garbage with it. They pointed out that the nala which was built during the time of Nizam was not upgraded to meet the needs of ever-increasing population in the area. They alleged that despite numerous representations to the municipal officials, the issue remained unresolved.

The people slammed inaction by Mayor and Deputy Mayor as wholesale business hub of the city was wallowing in neglect. Since the place is used by thousands of people at any given time, the businessmen and the locals lamented that the historic market areas continued to be ignored by the officials and people’s representatives alike.
