Advocates back their man for mayor post
Warangal: The Warangal Bar Association (WBA) has thrown its weight behind senior Advocate and Corporator Vaddiraj Ganesh supporting his candidature for the Mayor of Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC).
It may be recalled that Mayor post fell vacant after the resignation of Nannapuneni Narender, who got elected as MLA from Warangal East constituency in the recent Assembly elections. Since then the TRS leadership is yet to take a call on selecting the candidate for the post.
Alongside, Vaddiraj Ganesh (27th Division), there is an intense competition among the Corporators - Gunda Prakash Rao (26th Division), D Vijay Bhaskar (50th Division), Gundu Aashritha Reddy (24th Division), Deputy Mayor Khaja Sirajuddin and Nalla Swaroopa Rani (47th Division).
Against this backdrop, the Warangal Bar Association that played a vital role in the fight for separate Telangana on Monday unanimously resolved to lead a delegation to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who is also the TRS chief.
The WBA members led by their President K Narsimha Rao have decided to urge the TRS chief to consider the candidature of Vaddiraj Ganesh for the Mayor post. Appealing to TRS leadership, the WBA members said that Ganesh, who has been with the party since its inception, is the right choice for the post.
The WBA has planned to meet the high command of the TRS leadership in this regard shortly, it’s learnt. Further, they appealed to the TRS leadership to give Warangal MP ticket to advocates’ community in the upcoming elections to the Lok Sabha.
The Brahmin community, which has been feeling let down over their meagre representation in the law-making institutions, is also supporting Vaddiraj Ganesh for the Mayor post.
In a statement, the Telangana Brahmana Seva Sangha Samakya has already made an appeal to the TRS leadership supporting the candidature of Vaddiraj Ganesh.
