Elections for 192 panchayats today
Khammam: All arrangements have been made by the authorities for the conduct of the third phase of panchayat elections in the district. In all 192 villages of seven mandals of Khammam district are going to polls. As many as 24 sarpanches have elected unopposed, therefore, elections will be held for 168 panchayats.
Elections will be held in the Raghunadhapalem, Konijerla, Wyra, Yerrupalem, Madhira, Bonakal, Chinthakani mandals. As the polls to be conducted through ballot papers, the printing of ballot papers has already been completed and the same has been transported to respective mandals and villages.
In the second phase of elections, 192 gram panchayats and 1740 wards in Khammam district were issued a notification to receive nominations. Of these, 24 sarpanch and 245 ward members were elected unanimously. The remaining 168 gram panchayats and 1495 wards have been prepared to conduct the elections on Wednesday.
Polling will begin at 7 am and end at 2 pm. The results will be announced on the same day. The Police officials have made tight security arrangements at all the polling stations for the smooth conduct of polls.
