Hyderabad: In the wake of growing resistance from local people against the acquisition of land for the construction of helipad close to the house owned by him in Karimnagar, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Tuesday withdrew the proposal to set up the helipad.

On December 29, the Karimnagar District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmad issued a notification for acquisition of 5.14 acres of land at Theegalaguttapally village on the outskirts of the city. Challenging the forceful land acquisition, locals approached the courts.

In an official release on Tuesday, the collector said that the Chief Minister decided to withdraw the land acquisition proceedings for the construction of the helipad with immediate effect.
