SFI members elected district committee

Medchal: Student Federation of India (SFI) of Medchal-Malkajgiri district elected its new committee at its third district convention here on Tuesday. M Sai Kiran was elected as district committee president and R Santosh as its general secretary. SFI state secretary Kota Ramesh and state vice president T Ravi attended the district convention as chief guests. Ramesh said that the present rulers have destroyed the education field.

He alleged that the central government was trying to remove independent bodies such as UGC. Religious forces had gained supremacy in educational institutions after BJP came to power, he alleged. Ramesh condemned increased attacks on students of leftist and progressive ideologies. 

About 120 representatives from several mandals of the district participated in the district convention. V Venkatesh and Shankar Srikanth were elected as vice-presidents of the new committee, and Sai and Chandrakanth as joint secretaries.
