Third phase of Gram Panchayat elections today

Adilabad: Campaigning for the third phase of Gram Panchayat elections was concluded on Tuesday and the polls will be conducted on Wednesday (January 30).

Election Commission and the district administration has made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of polls. Police department tightened security in problematic polling stations and web casting arrangement were made besides setting up of CCTV cameras at polling stations as well as at counting centres in the district.

In the joint Adilabad district, third phase of GP elections will be held in 503 gram panchayats. Of which, 97 panchayats were elected unanimously and the remaining 411 gram panchayats will go for elections on Wednesday.

In Adilabad district, 163 gram panchayats were selected for the third phase of panchayat elections. Among them, 55 GPs have been elected unanimously and elections will be held in the remaining 108 panchayats.

Out of the total 1,358 ward members seats, 1,037 wards have been elected unanimously and elections will be for the remaining 303 wards. As many as 386 candidates for 108 gram panchayats are in the fray and 740 candidates are contesting for the 303 ward members seats. 

As many as 74 Returning Officers, 165 stage-2 Returning Officers and 33 zonal officers, 1,358 ballot boxes are being used in this election. Web casting arranged at 10 problematic polling stations, CCTV cameras were arranged at 108 polling centres and four flying squads and 35 micro observers have been appointed for the smooth conduct of polls.

In Nirmal district, 131 Gram Panchayats were selected for elections, among them nine panchayats have been elected unanimously and the remaining 122 panchayats will have elections.

In Komaram Bheem - Asifabad district, 114 panchayats have elections. 23 of them were elected unanimously and remaining 91 panchayats will go for elections.

In Mancherial district, 95 gram panchayats selected for elections. Of them, 10 panchayats have been elected unanimously and the remaining 91 gram panchayats will go for elections.
