Will help SCs to develop financially: Collector

Karimnagar: The people belonging to Scheduled Castes will be helped to grow financially and all the welfare schemes implemented by the government for their wellbeing will be implemented perfectly in the district, assured District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed.

He attended as a chief guest at 'Prohibition & Employment as Manual Scavengers and their Rehabilitation Act-2013' programme organised under Scheduled Caste Development Department by district-level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee here at the Collectorate conference hall on Tuesday.

Responding to the enquiry by Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed about the problems they have been facing, the committee members poured out their issues like meagre salaries being paid to sweepers working in various departments and making them to do other works and even asking them to do scavenging services. They requested the Collector to pay wages as per the guidelines issued by the government as they were getting very less amount for the work.

After listening to their problems, Collector Sarfaraz ordered the SC Corporation Officer to take services from the sweepers as per rules and to pay wages as per the guidelines issued by the government. He assured the committee members that scholarships will be sanctioned to their school-going children.  He told them if they want, scavenging works in Sulabh complexes will be allotted to them, which will be organised by Municipal Corporation and also loans will be sanctioned to the members of Scavengers Association.

District Revenue Officer Bikshu Naik, Municipal Commissioner K Satyanarayana, Scheduled Caste Welfare Development Department Officer Vinod Kumar, Scavenger Committee members J D Bhagavan, Ch Dharam Singh, Karam Singh, Raj Kumar and Anil Kumar were present along with others.
