Collector reviews voter enrolment drive
Malkajgiri: District Collector MV Reddy conducted meeting on voter enrolment with principals of Degree and Engineering colleges here on Thursday.Reddy said, “We were successful in getting huge polling turnout in 2018 Assembly elections with coordination of all departments. We made people aware of the importance of vote with slogan Medchal – Votechal.” Kukatpally and Quthbullapur had recorded more polling percentage than previous elections due to various Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programmes in the district. He appreciated the colleges for their active participation in the SVEEP programmes.
As per EC directions, transport facility had been given to elderly and physically challenged people. He called upon the principals to sensitise the students on the importance of vote and make them enrol their name in voters list. He informed that the district is ahead of others in implementing government schemes.Reddy said that government has developed oxygen parks for pollution free climate to city residents in Dhulapalli and Kandlakoya. He also informed that efforts were being made for the construction of Keshavapur reservoir, which was likely to fulfil the drinking water needs of twin cities.
He informed that any issue regarding the elections can be sorted out by dialing the toll-free number (0848) 1950. He stated that out of 1.25 lakh students only one lakh students had enrolled their names. As the last date was approaching, he sought the principals' intervention to ensure total enrollment.Training nodal officer Yousuf Ali, SVEEP nodal officer Kautilya and various college principals were present.
