Raising awareness on child adoption
Hyderabad-based NGO, ‘Helping 2 Hand’ Foundation, which has been working for a cause of education since 2016, has made a special short film titled ‘Guzaarish’ with focus on child adoption in India. The 15-minute film is produced by city-based ‘Helping 2 Hands’ The AR Foundation. The movie is directed by Rakesh Gondle. It took three months for them to complete the film.
Speaking about the film, president of ‘Helping 2 Hands’ foundation Abdur Rahman says, “There was a growing trend of child adoption in the country. At times, adoption becomes a tedious process. But childbirth is not easier either.” He explains while noting that they wanted to give a new lease of life to a child without parents through bringing awareness about adoption. “Every child deserves a home and love,” he adds.
“Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA) is a statutory body of Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India, that functions as the nodal body for adoption of Indian children and is mandated to monitor and regulate in-country and inter-country adoptions. There are many orphans, but the CARA process shows the waiting list to parents who want to adopt, and in the film we showed the journey of parents to reach the orphans,” says Rahman.
