Honour killing victim Pranay’s parents allege threat to lives

​Hyderabad: Parents of honour killing victim Pranay, P Balaswamy and Premalatha on Friday alleged that they still have threat to their lives from Maruthi Rao and his associates. Addressing the media, they alleged that their daughter-in-law Amrutha’s mother and Maruthi Rao’s supporters are still keeping tabs on them and creating problems.

Pranay and Amrutha belonging to different castes conducted inter-caste marriage on January 30, 2018. Amrutha’s father Maruthi Rao did not approve of their relationship and developed a grudge against Pranay. He hired killers to murder his son-in-law. On September 14, 2018 in broad daylight Pranay was brutally murdered by hired killer. 

On January 30, 2019, Amrutha gave birth to a baby boy in a Private Hospital in Hyderabad. In view of the delivery, Pranay’s parents cried before the media and alleged that some people were chasing them to end their lives. They said that they escaped from them to join their daughter-in-law for delivery in a private hospital in the city rather than in Suryapet.  

They said that due to the support of police and media they are still alive. They said that they will fight for justice to Pranay till their last breath. They urged people to perform more inter caste marriages to eradicate caste discrimination from society. They demanded that the State government act impartially in Pranay’s honour killing case and see that the culprits get convicted.
