Congress activists come to blows in Gandhi Bhavan

Hyderabad: Congress leaders exchanged blows at a function organised to felicitate leader of Congress Legislature Party in Assembly M Bhatti Vikramarka on Saturday. Followers of former MP V Hanumantha Rao and chairman of OBC department of Hyderabad Congress Nuthi Srikanth had an altercation in the presence of senior leaders of the TPCC and Bhatti Vikramarka at Gandhi Bhavan.The trouble broke out soon after the completion of the felicitation function.

When followers of Nuthi Srikanth went on to the dais to garland Vikramarka one of them fell on Hanumantha Rao. Eye witnesses said that the former MP scolded the leader. With this the followers of Nuthi Srikanth tried to attack Hanumantha Rao whereas Hanumantha Rao’s follower S Srikanth and others blocked them which lead to a minor fight. Chairman of OBC cell of TPCC P Chittaranjan Das organised the felicitation to Bhatti Vikramarka at Gandhi Bhavan. Nuthi Srikanth lodged a complaint against Hanumantha Rao and his followers at Begum Bazar police station. 

Earlier, they made a sit-in in front of Bhatti Vikramarka’s chamber in Gandhi Bhavan demanding action against Hanumantha Rao. Later in the day, OBC cell chairman Chittaranjan Das suspended Nuthi Srikarnth for ‘misconduct and uncivilised’ behaviour. Earlier, speaking on the occasion of felicitation to Vikramarka, former MP Hanumantha Rao said that it was appreciable that the post of leader of CLP was given to an MLA from downtrodden sections.
