SC/ST panel member inspects girls hostel
Vikarabad: The SC, ST vigilance monitoring committee member, Dhanraj, paid a surprise visit to the district tribal welfare college girls hostel here on Sunday.Dhanraj enquired about rooms, bathrooms, compound wall and other amenities in the hostel. Girls complained to him about the scarcity of rooms and mosquito problem in the hostel. They said that they had to carry water from the ground floor to the third floor due to no supply of water to the hostel.
Food serving to them was also poor in quality and they were forced to adjust with sambar daily as officials were not following the menu. As the hostel building was situated amid residential buildings, they were being subjected to eve teasing also. They lamented that despite numerous complaints, officials turned a blind eye to them.
Speaking on the occasion, Dhanraj said that the government should appoint a doctor or nurse to the hostel so that it would be helpful to students when they were sick. He assured that he would take their issues to the notice of higher officials and resolve them soon.
