Wood smugglers warned of strict action
Adilabad: District Superintendent of Police Vishnu S Warrier, and Conservator of Forest Sharvanand on Monday said that both Police and Forest departments are seriously trying to eradicate wood smuggling in the district.
Addressing an awareness programme on deforestation with carpenters and timber machine workers, SP said officials are trying to show some alternative way to wood smugglers who is living in the timber transport business.
And the police department has been working hard to prevent the deforestation and said that every day the department is focusing forest as well as on movement of timber smugglers. He warned that strict action would be taken against the wood smugglers and PD Act will be imposed on professional smugglers.
CF Sharvanand said that police patrol has been conducting night patrolling to protect the forest. Forest and police departments would setup flying squad to prevent and block the paths in the forest.
With collaboration of two departments within ten days 30 lakhs worth teak wood seized he said. DFO Prabhakar, Chandrashekar, ASP Mohan, DSP K Narsimha Reddy, inspectors Suresh, Nagaraju RIO Sudhakar and others were present.
