Ban tobacco peddling: Police Commissioner VB Kamalasan Reddy
Karimnagar: “Ban people, who sell tobacco products like gutka, amber, other such things, in your areas,” Police Commissioner VB Kamalasan Reddy appealed the people.
The police officials conducted cordon and search operation from 5 am to 7.30 am on Thursday and seized 83 two-wheelers, which do not have proper documents and tobacco products stored in a house in Beerappa Nagar and Santosh Nagar areas in Karimnagar city.
Speaking on the occasion, the Police Commissioner said cordon and search operations are being conducted under the Commissioner limits to prevent anti-social activities and to curb illegal activities.
He appealed the people to coordinate with the police officials, who have been conducting various types of programmes for their safety and protection.
He suggested the people not to give their houses on rent without knowing the tenants’ details. People must come forward voluntarily for installation of CCTV cameras in their colonies. People, who have smart mobiles, must download 'Hawk Eye' app through which they can lodge complaints without going to police stations. They also must ban people, who sell tobacco products that would cause dreadful diseases like cancer to the consumers.
Beerappa Nagar and Santosh Nagar area people have donated Rs 2.2 lakh for CCTV cameras installation in their colonies. Additional DCP S Srinivas, Karimnagar Town ACP Dr P Ashok, Inspectors Deva Reddy, Tula Srinivas Rao, Vijay Kumar, Reserve Inspectors Mallesham, Johny Miya, Shekar and corporator Lingaiah were present along with others.
