Don’t sell product to brokers, farmers told
Karimnagar: Get standard quality red gram and get minimum support price (MSP), Vemulawada MLA Chennamaneni Ramesh Babu suggested the formers. He inaugurated Markfed procurement centre at Vemulawada on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, the MLA advised the farmers not to sell their produce to brokers. If their produce is of good quality, then Markfed will pay Rs 5,675 per quintal, he informed the farmers. He lamented that they couldn’t store the yield on par with international standards and farmers know their products are universalised.
If farmers sell their produce to Markfed, then the income will directly go to them, which could strengthen them financially. Markfed Chairman Loka Bapu Reddy, U Chendrasheker and others participated in the programme.
