NIT Warangal gets advanced metrology lab
Warangal: NIT director Prof NV Ramana Rao, HEXAGON Capability Centre India (HCCI) Executive Director (Finance) Ballav Mundra, and HCCI Executive Director (Human Resources), Alok Mehta have inaugurated ‘Advanced Metrology Lab’ in mechanical engineering department on NIT campus here on Wednesday. This lab was totally funded by HCCI, The NIT and HCCI have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) last year.
The lab is extremely useful for those pursing M Tech and PhD. The Rs 35 lakh lab houses Hexagon’s Absolute Arm, PC-DMIS CAD++, 3D Reshaper software and Absolute Arm 7-Axis. It also has the all-in-one solution for Portable 3D Measurement which includes Reverse Engineering. Together, it delivers high-accuracy measurement, which is much faster and seamless than earlier generation machines.
This lab provides hands-on experience in cutting-edge software and hardware solutions, which are used in the largest manufacturing units across the world and in India. With industry-oriented labs established in NIT Warangal, students will gain skills on practical industry application and become productive almost immediately thereby increasing their employability across the industries.
The support from HCCI extends by offer initial training in the enterprise solutions to the PhD & M Tech students along with professors. Prof P Bangaru Babu, Head of Mechanical Engineering department, NIT, P Vamsi Krishna, Bhaskar Koppaka, Executive Manager (Technical) – Hexagon MI, Rachita Kar, Marketing and communication executive, HCCI and Manoj Patloori, Senior Manager HR, HCCI, were among others present.
