GHMC lines up 200-crore spend for smooth traffic
Hyderabad: GHMC has convened a meeting to resolve various issues to improve traffic management including signaling system in the near future. M Dana Kishore, the Commissioner, held elaborate discussions with the officials of Bangalore-based Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Commissioner of Police, Additional DG, Addl. Commissioner (Law & Order) and senior officials of various departments.
The Commissioner stated that an action plan has been prepared for overall development of the traffic system. Keeping in view the works to be taken up to meet city needs in the next 40 years, a study has also been conducted jointly with LEE Associates on kind of traffic problems the city would face in the coming decades.As per the study by the LEE Associates, it is being planned to spend Rs 200 crore on several works in next two years.
A senior officers committee has been formed to prepare an action plan for identifying and taking up works.A Twin Command Control Towers would be raised, for which the GHMC would coordinate with the traffic and police departments for overall functioning of the project.The traffic signals which are being maintained by BEL are facing a lot of issues. A meeting would be held in the next 15 days to sort out all the issues in an effective manner, said the Commissioner.
Anjani Kumar, the Commissioner of Police, Jeethender, Addl. DG, Anil Kumar, Addl. Commissioner of Police, senior officials from various departments, Musharaf Ali, Addl GHMC Commissioner, Devender, CCP, attended the meeting.
