MLA officials inspect Golconda Kathora Houz
Golconda: As part of studying beautification of Golconda Fort and the state of Kathora Houz, a 450-year-old tank, a joint inspection by officials from various departments including Archaeological, Tourism and GHMC, along with local MLA, was conducted on Thursday.Karwan MLA Kausar Mohiuddin and Nanalnagar Corporator Mohammed Naseeruddin and other leaders of Karwan Constituency were part of the team that went around Golconda Fort and Kathora Houz.
Superintending Archaeologist, Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Dr Milan Kumar Chauley, B Manohar, MD of Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation (TSTDC), GHMC Deputy Commissioner N Sudhamsh, EE Shivanand and others were part of the visit.During the tour, the members held discussions on measures to be taken up for further beautification of Golconda Fort and restoration Kathora Houz as well as improving tourism amenities, landscaping, feasibility of lazer shows, conservation of all monuments and parks etc.
Beautification of Qutb Shahi Heritage Park, at the foot of the Golconda Fort, also figured in the deliberations. This necropolis of the Qutb Shahi dynasty includes 40 mausoleums, 23 mosques, 6 baolis (step-wells), a hammam (mortuary bath), pavilions and garden structures set within a heritage zone.
The desilting of the Katora Houz tank was started in August 2018. It is at presented covered by a thick density of water hyacinth, weed and garbage. It has become a mosquito breeding ground. Earlier in 2018, the MLA said that Katora Houz , was set to retain its lost glory. Desilting of the tank has been initiated by GHMC after obtaining due permissions from ASI. Later, the Katora Houz would be handed over to Tourism department for further development, he said on the occasion.
