International meet on development discourse begins

Hyderabad: Research for Resurgence Foundation launched a 3-day International conference for development discourse at National Institute of Nutrition on Friday. The speakers at the plenary session were Prof Tirupathi Rao, vice-chancellor of OU, Prof Mohan Lal Chhipa, VC of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Hindi Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal, Dr VK Malhotra, member-secretary of ICSSR. All the dignitaries spoke on the various topic of development.

Prof Tirupathi Rao spoke about the theory of development and on India’s development before independence and after. He stressed on analytical research and research for village development and about two models of development capitalist and socialist model.He explained how in 1970, the India market economic was developed but it did not address the basic needs of poor people.

He stressed on the State giving basic facilities to the people so that they can develop. He ended his speech by quoting Swami Vivekananda: “A nation is advanced in proportion to education and intelligence spread among the masses.”  Prof Mohan Lal Chhipa said that today’s generation must read the Vedas and the Upanishads. He spoke about development growth and about various theories.
