Villagers oppose Komarabanda merger with Kodad municipality, stage protest

 Kodad (Suryapet): Demanding not to merge their village with Kodad municipality, the youngsters of Komarabanda village staged a protest on a road on Sunday. Speaking on the occasion, the protestors  demanded the government to rollback its proposal in the interest of the villagers.

They questioned the government as to how it could issue merging orders without taking the opinion of the villagers. Stating that majority of the people in the village were daily labourers, they informed that they will lose minimum guaranty employment under MNREGS scheme if Komarabanda was merged with Kodad municipality.

Taxes will increase multifold  after it becomes part of the municipality, they underlined.

Meanwhile, there was a huge traffic jam due to protest and the vehicles over half-a-kilometre stretch were stranded. 

Later, the villagers withdrew their protest with the intervention of local rural police. Kodad Rural SI Dasharatha assured the agitators of taking their issue to the notice of officials concerned and stated that necessary action would be taken in this regard.
