MLA urges Centre to revive HMT plant
Quthbullapur: Local MLA KP Vivekanand, under the leadership of TRS Lok Sabha Floor Leader AP Jithender Reddy, on Tuesday submitted a representation in New Delhi to Minister for Heavy Industries Anant Githe on the problems of the employees of HMT, located in Quthbullapur constituency. The members of the HMT Employees’ Union were also present on the occasion.
The legislator informed Githe that HMT, which has been contributing during the last six decades to the country’s development, is suffering because of the lack of encouragement. “It has been incurring losses,” Vivekanand said, and recalled that as the union president he had taken the issue to the notice of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), who in turn had arranged the appointment with Githe.
The representation sought the sanction of funds for reviving HMT, appointment of staff to replace the retired, to increase of employee wages, to increase the retirement age to 60 years and to revise of pay scales. According to a statement issued by Vivekanand here, the union minister responded positively to the representation, describing the listed demands as “just.” He assured the delegation that he would strive to find solutions to the problems faced by HMT. Githe said that he would soon visit HMT.
