Beedi workers stage dharna at MRO office

Dubbak: Demanding resolution Beedi workers problems, CITU organised a dharna in front of MRO office here on Wednesday. State beedi workers union assistant secretary G Bhasker alleged that the central government had imposed GST to destroy beedi industry. He informed that a total of 1.5 crore people were depending on the industry. He demand that the government waive GST on the beedi industry and provide a minimum wage of Rs 18,000 to each and every worker.

The union also demanded that the government provide Rs 5,000 retirement pension to labourers aged above 50 and implement PF, ESI and bonus acts strictly. The government was also urged to ensure employment for at least 56 days to beedi workers and establishment of ESI hospital in Siddipet. He appealed to the state and central governments to come to the rescue of beedi workers, failing which they would be responsible for further consequences. 
 
Beedi workers Raju, Srinivas, Narender,Mahesh, Ravi,Kishan, Anjaneyulu, Chandramouli, Bhanu,Kumar, Srisailam, Lakshman, Shanker,Mallesham and women employees were present.
