Student unions call for ‘Chalo Delhi’

 Kapra: Demanding strengthening of education sector, representatives of various students’ unions and youth associations called for a two-day Chalo Delhi protest programme from February 18. Accordingly, Students Federation of India (SFI) state vice-president T Ravi on Wednesday released a poster at a programme held here by SFI Medchal-Malkajgiri district committee. Addressing the press persons, he alleged that Narendra Modi-led Central government has been neglecting the education sector and promoting the corporatisation in the sector. He lamented that thousands of government schools were closed countrywide. Ravi criticised that the Centre had opened doors to private universities and was totally neglecting government universities. He alleged that the BJP led government has earned the dubious credit of distancing education from primary to higher level to the poor. District secretary Santosh Rathod said that the as many as 30,000 representatives will participate in India Adhikar Mark rally from Red Fort to Parliament as part of Chalo Delhi protest programme. SFI district president M Sai, district vice presidents P Shankar and B Venkatesh, assistant secretaries Shashank and Chandrakanth were present.
