Kapra: Water woes have begun for this village well before the start of summer season. Villagers of Nagaram in Keesara mandal have been facing acute water shortage problem for the last few months. The residents of 108 colonies of the village have staged protest before village Panchayat office on Sunday protesting the official negligence in addressing the water issues. Later, about 500 men and women held a rally from Nagaram village to Rampalli cross roads.

Villagers lamented that drinking water has not been supplied to the village properly since last year and the life has become very difficult in the village. They alleged that there was no response from the authorities concerned despite several complaints in this regard. Although the gram Panchayat charges more taxes than any municipality, it has failed to provide regular drinking water supply, they said.

Borewells in most of the houses have dried up and tankers take at least two to three days after they are booked, they said. Protestors demanded the State government officials, Jalamandali officials, sarpanch and panchayat secretary to respond to their complaints and ensure proper water supply. Protestors warned of waging an intense agitation if the water issue was not resolved at the earliest.

Among those who participated in the protest include joint action committee president Keshava Reddy, Redya Naik, Suresh, Sheshagiri Rao Naidu, Uma Shankar Goud, Konda Janga Reddy, Srinivas Rao, Vittal Reddy, Srinivas Rao and others.
