KCR’s dynamic dozen

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who inducted 10 members into his cabinet on Tuesday, is dominated by Reddy community again. In the previous TRS rule too, six ministers, out of the 17, were from the Reddy community.The Telangana cabinet, which functioned for the past two months with two ministers, including chief minister, now has a strength of 12.

KCR along with Home Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali had taken oath on December 13 last year The five ministers from Reddy community are: A Indrakaran Reddy, G Jagadish Reddy, Niranjan Reddy, S Malla Reddy and V Prashanth Reddy. Of these Indrakaran Reddy and Jagdish Reddy got a second term as ministers. The other three are first time ministers.

From the BC community, KCR retained E Rajendar and T Srinivas Yadav as his cabinet colleagues and V Srinivas Goud was the new face from the BC community in the cabinet. From SC (Mala), senior-most leader Koppula Eshwar and E Dayakar Rao from the Velama community were also sworn in as ministers.Senior leaders and KCR’s son KT Rama Rao and nephew T Harish Rao did not get cabinet berth. Senior-most leaders and MLCs - Nayani Narasimha Reddy and K Srihari also failed to make it to the cabinet. Narasimha Reddy skipped the swearing-in ceremony.

Senior TRS leaders and ministers in the previous government C Laxma Reddy, T Padma Rao Goud, T Rajaiah and Jogu Ramanna who were among the aspirants also did not find any place in the cabinet due to local political equations, party sources said. It is said that another expansion would take place after the Lok Sabha elections when six more aspirants would get berth in the cabinet. Leaders said that Gutha Sukhendar Reddy and P Mahendar Reddy are likely to be inducted in the cabinet after they get elected to the Legislative Council soon.
