Water woes unite 108 colonies in city

 Kapra: In a show of unity and power, the residents of 108 colonies under Nagaram gram panchayat came together to form a joint action committee to fight for the water needs in their locality. Thanks to the apathy, negligence of the sarpanch, village secretary and officials concerned, the colony residents got united and embarked on a fighting path to get potable water so that the summer season, which just arrived in Telangana, would pass without facing water shortage. Leaders of the JAC, created a fund by collecting money from the residents of 108 colonies.
 
Now, through private water tanker distributors, each household is able to get a minimum of two drums of drinking water per day. They took the decision on a collective approach towards private water tankers after the authorities failed to supply water regularly for more than a year.  
The residents JAC registered their protest with empty utensils for potable water a few days back. The JAC leaders said as the panchayat sarpanch and village secretary were least bothered about their hardships they organised protest rallies and dharnas recently. They said that there was no fund crunch to the panchayat with higher tax charges compared to the GHMC but there was no water supply. The JAC leaders said that most of the bore wells dried up and private water tankers were responding to bookings prior to 48 hrs. The residents urged the officials concerned to supply the water at the earliest. JAC leaders Keshava Reddy, Redya Naik, Suresh, Seshagirirao Naidu, Umashankar Goud, Konda Janga Reddy, Srinivasa Rao and Vittal Reddy were present.
