BJP senior leader Baddam Balreddy passes away
Hyderabad: BJP Senior leader Baddam Balreddy (73) died at a private hospital in the city while undergoing treatment here on Saturday. A three-time MLA from Karwan Assembly constituency, Balreddy, dearly called by his admirers as Golkonda Lion had laid a strong base for the party in the old city.
According to a hospital bulletin, he was diagnosed with a small bowl malignancy which had spread to other organs even before he developed symptoms. He was admitted to the hospital and the doctors tried their level best to rescue him with a surgical operation to try and remove the tumour.
Initially, he had recovered well from the surgery, but on the 10th day, he developed overwhelming sepsis and renal failure from which he was unable to recover. Due to age and illnesses like inflammatory bowel disease and diabetes contributed to his severity. He was kept on ventilator support, but, breathed his last late on Saturday evening.
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao commending the services rendered by Bal Reddy in the public life conveyed his condolences to the members of the bereaved family. Former Union Minister and BJP MP Bandaru Dattatreya recalled the BJP former MLA's growth as a committed leader with nationalist ideas and worked hard for the people of the constituency and Hyderabad city.
BJP national general secretary P Muralidhar Rao, BJP State president Dr K Laxman, party MLA Raja Singh, MLC N Ramachander Rao, former MLA G Kishan Reddy and senior party leader expressed shock over the sudden demise of Bal Reddy.
The party leaders condoling his death, recalled his services, starting his days as a member in RSS, and worked hard as a disciplined worker and leader in the party, who fought against emergency. The final rituals will be held at Mahaprastanam in Jubilee Hills at 5 PM on Sunday, the family members said.
