Care & support for elderly stressed
Hyderabad: Nutritious food packets, toiletries, healthcare, clothing etc were distributed to the inhabitants of Old Age Home at Sahara Centre in Tirumalanagar, Amberpeton Saturday.
Social activist Peddi Rajitha enlightened various problems being faced by the elders of today. Presiding over the programme, Sahara Chief Functionary R Narsing Rao said that Oldage Homes should not become an ultimate destination for the elders, there should be community-based activity for the aged to make them live happily in the evening of their life.
He said that It was not possible for the government to meet all the needs of increasing population of the senior citizens in India, at the same time it was the responsibility of family and society to share the responsibilities which was lacking very much today.
The donors Dr K Haritha, M Jyothi, C Ramakrishna, T KV VenkateswarRao, and others contributed to support the elderly every month and the students of St Joseph School, Amberpet organized an event and collected small contribution to support the aged.
The students who participated in ‘Help the Aged’ event, were awarded with certificates and mementos. Sahara members and volunteers K Rama, Premalata, Bhanu, Malleswari, Sd. Osama Mrs Farzana (teacher) and students extended their support in distributing supplies to the elderly.
The elderly expressed their gratefulness that there was someone who takes care of them though they didn’t have any one of their own.
