Mismatch in hall tickets keeps Inter examinees on the edge

Hyderabad: While most of students are tense before their Intermediate Public Examinations(IPE)  starting from Wednesday,  the discrepancies in the hall tickets are adding  to their problems and making them to shuttle around different colleges in the city to find out their examination centre.
Speaking to The Hans India, a senior official from a junior college in Malakpet said that it was found that the addresses of the examination centres on hall tickets are not matching with the college codes printed on them.

This is making the students to go and figure out the address of the examination centres on the basis of college code printed on their hall tickets. For example, a faculty member of a junior college from Saidabad said, “One student has come to the college on Tuesday to check the location of the examination centre. But, to her shock, the address of the examination centre is our college. But, the code of it is of a different branch of our college located in Kothapet,” he added.

Further verification revealed that the student in question had to give her first year intermediate Sanskrit examination on February 27, from 9 am. For this, the TSBIE generated a hall ticket with Sri Chaitanya Kalasala, Dwarakapuram in Saroornagar but, as per the code is given in the hall ticket, the college is located in Kothapet, which is about three kilometres from Dwarakapuram. It was the college authorities in Dwarakapuram who directed her giving the correct address of her examination centre on the basis of the college code in the hall ticket.

“My daughter had gone to Kothapet and figured out a day ahead of the examination. Otherwise, she might have lost an opportunity to write her examination and appealed to the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) to address such issues so that students would not lose an academic year,” said her father Kulkarni.

When contacted, the TSBIE said the hall ticket numbers are allocated to different colleges other than the colleges in which the student is studying. But, the address of the examination centres and the college code should be the same. How the mismatch cropped up need to be looked into, he said.

The TSBIE Secretary Dr A Ashok said that students should contact their college principals in case of any discrepancies and rectification of the same. They can also call up the control room established by the TSBIE in case of any need, he added.Numbers of the control room are 040-24601010 /24732369 Fax No. 040-24655027.
