Staff shortage cripples traffic police here

  Jubilee Hills: Scarcity of traffic police is taking a toll on commuters in the Jubilee Hills area. Commuters have to wait for hours at the signals as there is no traffic staff there. There are four main junctions and six main roads in the jubilee hills traffic police station limits.

As there is no sufficient staff in the area, traffic police, who discharges the duty, has to work without any leaves for months. There is no inspector has been allotted to this area for a while and lower cadre is facing a tough time to manage traffic.

Jubilee Hills check post, Road No. 45, Bharatiya Vidhya Bhavan junction are the main junctions in this area. There are more than one lakh vehicles travels from KBR Park towards check post. Road no 10, 36 and 45 also witness the same amount of traffic.

Earlier, many officials competed for Inspector post in Jubilee Hills police station. But as days passed by, the situation has changed. The area is full of houses of bureaucrats, retired officers, and cini heroes. As many Inspectors who worked here faced allegations of corruption, higher officials are laying special focus on this seat.

It is learned that movement of convoys of the Chief Minister, the Governor and eminent persons is one of the main reasons for traffic snarls in the area. To enforce traffic diversions in Prashasan Nagar and Road No. 45, there is a need for additional staff. There are three Sub Inspectors, two ASIs, four head constables, 16 constables and 41 home guards in the station. It is learned that another 5 sub-inspectors, 15 constables and 40 home guards are needed for effective policing.

Metro works in the area are creating a lot of traffic, for which sufficient traffic staff is needed to guide the commuters. People urge the government to increase the staff to this station and prevent traffic snarls.
