Need for awareness on menstrual hygiene

  Somajiguda: The ignorance regarding women health especially personal hygiene is taking a toll as thousands are affected by serious health complications like hormonal imbalance, UTI infection, bacterial infection and cervical cancer, said Dr Vijayalakshmi, senior Gynecologist and founder of Women Hygiene, Health, Education and Empowerment (WHHEE).
 
More than 80% of women in cities have least knowledge about various diseases. She further said that a drive for awareness in health and hygiene for women was the concept through women empowerment and this must begin from the house. 

Website to be launched
A website is to be launched on March 2 and the WHHEE team members would be visiting schools and colleges to spread awareness on menstrual hygiene.  A door-to-door campaign is being initiated. 
On March 2, a workshop on women empowerment is planned at JN auditorium, JNTU University, Kukatpally.  The event would be graced by K Eshwar, Minister of BC Welfare.

The other team members present at the event included Venugopal, chairman for Nikhil Foundation, Padmaja, director for Suraksha group of Companies, KV Prasad Reddy, software engineer, Uday Reddy, a social worker of Raj Mata foundation.
