44,000 new voters in updated voters list
Vikarabad: The Election Commission released the new voters’ list here on Thursday, stating that there are a total of 8,84,256 voters in the district after the special enrollment drive. Earlier, there were 8,40,175 voters during the Assembly elections. But now, there are 44,081 new voters.
The officials of the Election Commission conducted special awareness campaigns after the Assembly and panchayat elections in the district. Among the 8,84,256 voters in the district, there are 4,42,299 male voters, 4,41,599 female voters and the rest in other category.
In the Vikarabad constituency, there were 2,07,168 voters earlier while it has been increased to 2,29,288 as per the new list. There were 2,01,888 voters during Assembly elections and the number has increased to 2,10,765 as per the draft. Among them 1,03,133 are male voters and 1, 07,618 are female voters.
The Kodangal constituency had 2, 01,836 voters in the Assembly elections but as per the new draft, it has been increased to 2, 14,029. Among them, 1, 06,396 are male voters and 1, 07,521 are female voters.
A total of 1,126 polling stations are there in the district. Among them, 305 in Parigi, 284 in Vikarabad, 262 in Tandur, 275 in Kodangal were set up by the officials.
A special campaign drive that was conducted in the last month resulted in the enrollment of large number of youth.
