Survey of India displays latest geospatial tech

 Hyderabad:  The Indian Institute of Surveying & Mapping celebrated National Science Day here on Thursday in memory of noble laureate Prof. CV Raman. This year the theme of the Science Day which was open for public was ‘Science for the people and the people for the science’. The progamme was inaugurated by PV Srinivas. Director, AP & Telangana GDC, Hyderabad, along with MI Malik, Director, Southern Printing Group, Hyderabad. Ravindra Kumar, Deputy Surveyor General, IIS&M, and Col Sareen Chander, Deputy Surveyor and others were present on the occasion.

More than 100 schools and technical institutions were invited for the event in order to inculcate scientific awareness among students and public, various surveying instruments, exhibits, models were displayed to showcase latest technologies in Geospatial domain. Quiz sessions for the school students were organized to enhance their scientific temperament. Many including officials, principals & teachers of various institutions, schools graced the occasion. Survey of India officials replied to questions from curious students visiting the stalls. Latest field survey instruments, GPS, total stations and digital levels were displayed. Various Topographical maps used for national development and projects such as Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM), National Hydrology Project (NHP) , Namami Gange were displayed.
