`25k fine for putting up flexi on new flyover
LB Nagar: Come any festival, event or major opening ceremonies, the entire streets and building facades are taken over by flexies and banners of political leaders in the constituency. To end this flexi culture, GHMC authorities decided to crack the whip on political parties and their leaders. On Friday, when GHMC officials found flexies of legislator erected on the newly-inaugurated LB Nagar flyover, they first removed them before the opening of the flyover and then imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on Congress leader Mahesh Reddy.
They issued a challan bearing S No 64888 dated March 1 to the above said leader. According to the locals, it became a regular practice for the local leaders to erect flexies and banners on the busy roads for each and every occasion. There is no difference between ruling or non-ruling parties, the local leaders print flexies showing loyalty to their party netas. The locals hoped that the fine imposed on the Congress leader may stop the flexi culture in the constituency.
