Stalked, set on fire, Ravali dies

Warangal: Battling for her life for the last six days after she was set afire by her childhood friend and batch-mate, Topucherla Ravali, succumbed to burns on Monday. Ravali, a final year degree student of Vagdhevi Degree and PG College in Hanamkonda, who sustained 70 per cent burns, breathed her last at a private hospital in Hyderabad.

It may be recalled here that Pendyala Sai Anvesh, who hails from Chennaram village under Wardhannapet mandal, set Ravali of Ramachandrapuram village under Sangem mandal on fire after dousing petrol on her in full public view near her college hostel.

According to police, Anvesh turned hostile after Ravali turned down his marriage proposal. It’s learnt that Anvesh and Ravali who studied in same school and college are intimate friends since their childhood. It may be recalled that Minister for  Panchayat Raj Errabelli Dayakar Rao, who assured of all support to the family, had also visited the hospital in Hyderabad to see Ravali.
