Khammam: Demanding pattadar passbooks, 200 farmers from several villages of Kalluru mandal staged a protest in front of Kalluru Tahsildar’s office on Wednesday. Farmers from Laxmipuram, Bathulapalli and Kappalabandham villages of Kalluru mandal alleged that revenue officials were neglecting their frequent request to issue passbooks.

The farmers complained that revenue officers failed to issue the pattadar passbooks despite surveying their lands multiple times. Sathupalli MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah enquired with the Tahsildar regarding the issue and asked the Tahsildar to give an explanation for the delay.

As the revenue officers failed to issue the passbooks, the farmers are losing on benefits of schemes like Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima and Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, introduced by the State and Central governments.

They alleged that several people were cheating them on the pretext of providing them passbooks, and added that passbooks for over nearly 300 acres of land in the three villages have not been issued yet and they were facing several difficulties due to the delay.
