Reservations for Khammam, Kothagudem MPPs, ZPTCs finalised

Khammam: Reservations for the upcoming MPP and ZPTC elections in Khammam and Bhadradri-Kothagudem districts have been finalised. The decision process took place till Tuesday late night, following which the two district collectors sent a final report to the government.

Reservations were finalised and announced for 20 MPP and 20 ZPTC positions in Khammam district according to 2011 population census. Of the 20 mandals in Khammam district, six MPP positions have been reserved for Scheduled Tribes, six MPPs for Scheduled Castes and eight MPPs for general categories. Of the six seats allotted to STs, three for reserved for women. Similarly, three seats of the six allotted to SCs are also reserved for women. In general category, of the eight seats, four are reserved for women. 

Coming to ZPTC constituencies, four seats are reserved for STs, four for SCs, two for BCs and 10 for general category. Fifty per cent of all the categorised seats were allotted to women.

For the 21 mandals in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district, 18 MPP positions have been reserved for STs, two for general and one for SC women. Of the 18 MPPs for STs, nine are reserved for women. Of the two in general category, one is reserved for a woman.

Coming to ZPTC positions in Bhadradri-Kothagudem, 10 seats are reserved for STs and 11 for general category. Here also 50 per cent of all the categorised seats were reserved for women.
