Siddipet town gets Swachh award
Siddipet: The town which is making rapid strides in many areas has carved a niche for itself in the Swachh Bharat programme as well. This year, the town stood second best clean town in South India. It got 5,000 marks to secure the coveted place. Last year, the score was only 4,000.
Persistent efforts of municipal administration along with tremendous cooperation from the public under overall supervision of local legislator T Harish Rao saw the town scale up heights. The national award of Swachh Survekshan-2019 was received by Municipal Chairman Rajanarsu and Commissioner Srinivas Reddy from Union Minister Hardeep Singh at a programme organised in New Delhi on Wednesday.
Last year also Siddipet bagged Swachh Survekshan award at national level and the municipality received SLF Award. To continue the Swachh movement, the administration has been taking several initiatives. As many as 14 special teams supervise sanitation drive in the town. The town was declared ODF (open defecation free) as it made it mandatory that every house have a toilet. Siddipet has been declared as the 2-star rating garbage-free city. All the efforts of the civic authorities were reviewed, and feedback was also taken, from time to time, from the public. Siddipet achieved another distinction of being at second spot in entire country in terms of receiving feedback.
MLA T Harish Rao hailed the people for their active participation which earned laurels for the town. He wished that the people of the town stay united to continue the spirit of Swachh Abhiyan. When he called upon the people of the town to participate actively in the voting of Survekshan-2019, the response was overwhelming.
