Parents should educate their daughters: Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed
Karimnagar: Parents should not show discrimination towards girls and must encourage them by providing quality education to the girls so that they can reach higher positions in their life, suggested District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed.
He was the chief guest at Pratibha Puraskar award function organised for girls from rural areas by Coromandel International Ltd at the Collectorate auditorium in Karimnagar on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed said that women are competing with men in all fields and proving successful. There is a proverb ‘If a woman is educated, the entire family will be educated’, so women must fix certain goals in their life and must work hard to achieve them, he said.
The parents must not be in a hurry to get their daughters married off and should allow them to get a degree at least. If they wish, parents should encourage them to pursue higher studies and to stand on their legs by getting jobs. The students studying in government schools must work hard to get 100 per cent results in SSC examinations along with securing seats in IIIT, the Collector suggested.
Special Officer Praveenya appreciated the efforts of Coromandel International, which is striving hard to encourage girl students of rural areas.
