Women told to fight against dowry, discrimination
Nalgonda: The All-India Democratic Women's Association (AIDWA) state general secretary Mallu Laxmi felt that women of all sections should fight collectively against the increasing cases of harassment, exploitation, discrimination and suppression in the society.
On Thursday, she participated as a guest for Women’s Day meeting conducted over the topic ‘Women Development- Rulers Role’, by the Association’s district unit at MVN Trust Bhavan in Nalgonda.
Addressing the gathering, she said even though the world was progressing with technology, the attacks on women in the name of dowry and love have become a common phenomenon.
“Both the State and Central governments have been ignoring the women’s development and betraying the women fraternity in the name of attractive schemes and announcements,” she said, demanding the government to show sanctity towards women’s development and their protection in a practical way. Social activist Achuri Shailaja, Konda Anuradha, Varalaxmi, Padma, Saroja, Janibhi, Barathamma and others attended the meet.
