Arekapudi celebrates International Women’s Day

  Serilingampally: Local MLA Arekapudi Gandhi on Friday greeted corporators Lakshmibai, Dodla Venkatesh Goud, Janaki Rama Raju, while celebrating the International Women’s Day at his residence in Vivekanandnagar. He cut a cake along with the corporators and several women.

Addressing them, the MLA observed that women enjoyed a divine role in society. ‘Women should come up and move ahead in life’. He called for efforts to empower women so they could shine in political and social fields.

Gandhi stated that women were shining on a par with men thanks to their enormous power and would strive relentlessly without taking rest. ‘Only education would ensure that women progress’, he asserted, pointing out that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was striving to empower women. Gandhi cited the example of ‘Kalyana Lakshmi’, ‘Shaadi Mubarak’, KCR Kit, ‘Amma Badi Scheme, SHE Teams.

Among those present were former corporator Ranga Rao, TRS leaders Sanjiva Reddy, Narne Srinivas, Gottimukkala Pedda Bhaskar, Shivaram Goud, Kasinath Yadav, Pothula Rajender, Ashraf, Shravani Reddy, Harinath aned several women activists.
