Call for movement to achieve women’s safety

 Kapra:  Representatives of Medchal-Malkajgiri district committee of Telangana Disabled Women Association under the aegis of National Platform for the Rights of the Disabled (NPRD) on Friday organised a seminar on the conditions of differently abled women at NPRD office in Kamala Nagar. The occasion was International Women’s Day. NPRD district secretary Kurunelli Venkat preside the event. Telangana Disabled Women Association co-convener P Nagalakshmi, CITU Medchal-Malkajgiri district president Komati Ravia and NPRD district honorary president P Venkat addressed the gathering.
 
Nagalakshmi said that International Women’s Day celebrations were launched on March 8 to mark their struggle for securing rights. Komati Ravi said that social reformer Savitribai Phule fought against child marriages and women rights. P Venkat lamented that the celebrations have been hijacked by corporate companies for their monetary benefits. He called upon the audience for a united struggle in protecting Women’s rights and against atrocities, harassment towards them. Saida begum proposed a vote of thanks. Kavitha, Bhanu, Nagamani, Soni and Vijayalakshmi were present.
