Young actor Nikhil is all set to begin shooting for his new film ‘Karthikeya 2’, a sequel to his earlier blockbuster ‘Karthikeya’ which revolved round a hypnotised snake. “The sequel will move to Mathura for a major part of the shooting that will form the intrinsic part of the storyline. The first part was shot in a semi-fictional village Subramanyapuram situated around the temple of Lord Muruga,” says a source, close to the unit. To be helmed by new-age director Chandoo Mondeti, who also directed the original, it will be a visual-spectacle to be shot with a lavish budget. “Director wants to deliver a visual wonder to catapult the story to the next level. He also touches upon the topic of God-belief once again,” the source adds. Right now, Nikhil is busy completing his upcoming film ‘Arjun Saravaram’ and expected to join the sequel from June. “The sequel demands lot of pre-production work because director has done a lot of research about Shri Krishna Jannmabhoomi  and wants to incorporate key devotional points relevant to the holy place into his storyline to make it more authentic and relatable,” the source points out.
