Grand celebrations mark the dawn of New Year

Warangal: Grand celebrations marking the dawn of New Year have been organised under the aegis of officials of different government departments and leaders of political parties here on Monday.

The district Congress president N Rajender Reddy along with the party workers celebrated the occasion at a programme at Pochamma Maidan in Warangal. He cut a cake in the presence of city Congress president K Srinivas Rao, leaders K Srinivas, Md Ayub Khan, K Sadanandam and others. Speaking on the occasion, Rajender Reddy wished the people in the district a happy and prosperous life in this year. He appealed the public to support Congress in 2019 elections so see the implementation of programmes for the welfare of downtrodden sections.

On the day, Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Warangal chapter vice-chairman Dr K Sudhakar Reddy, secretary M Nagaiah, managing committee members Dr P Vijaychander Reddy, EV Srinivasa Rao, P V Narayana Goud, B Hariprasad, B Papi Reddy, Dr S Vijaya Laksmi, Ch Jayasri and others called on the Commissioner of Police G Sudheer Babu and extended wishes.

Marking the occasion, cake cutting and offering of prayers were organised under the aegis of Warangal police commissionerate after the mid-night hours of December 31. The Police Commissioner Sudheer Babu joined the police officials and personnel in the celebration and cut a cake.

A large number of police officials have called on the Commissioner and extended greetings. DCPs, Venkat Reddy, Venkateshwarlu and additional DCP Muralidhar were among those met the Commissioner, who asked the officials to make renewed efforts to reach out to the people with people-friendly policing.

Similarly, the GWMC corporators and officials and employees union leaders have called on the Mayor N Narender and extended greetings. The Mayor asked them to make committed efforts to reach the targets of development works and to serve citizens in a much better manner.

Assembly Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary and the Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari have also extended their New Year greetings to the people in erstwhile Warangal district. They urged the public support to the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao in achieving ‘Bangaru Telangana’.
